Sunsilk: Hair Tutorial for Valentine's Day!

Hi girls! I hope you had fun taking part in the #SunsilkHairHunt contest. Once again, congratulations to @its_xinhui and all the other winners! Please share photos of yourself at your staycation if you can alright? There are different themed rooms at the New Majestic Hotel and I would love to see which one you've picked ;)

Apart from that, I also wanna thank EVERYONE who took time off their schedules to take part in the contest as well. I personally felt it was quite a challenge but it didn't stop you guys from participating and that meant a lot to me and the Sunsilk team. If you didn't win, don't worry! There'll be plenty more opportunities in future.

A new year has begun and I can't wait to see what Sunsilk has in store for us all. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of you readers for your constant support. There is no way I could ever achieve anything without you guys ;)

2014 ended with a bang, lots of parties and dressing up to do, the next big things to look forward to are Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. With these special occasions just around the corner, it's time to decide on how to dress and of course, how to wear your hair ;)

There are so many different looks and styles you could go for and I personally (honestly) like to leave my hair down, probably curl it a little and that's it. But I thought of trying some new styles out.

Here's a hairdo I came up with that would look perfect for Valentine's Day! It's super simple and takes only about 5 minutes to complete.

The Sunsilk Instant Smoothening Cream will allow you to have a better sense of control over your hair. It has the ability to leave hair feeling a lot more manageable, and without a doubt, as its name suggests, smoother! ;) Fly-aways are a big no-no for this rather polish and adorable style. If you've tried it before, you'll know how good it smells too.

Grab a section of hair, at least an inch away from you face and braid it. I'd recommend leaving your fringe behind, you'll need to curl it later for a glamorous finish. Braiding is easy! Practice makes perfect.

Once that's done, create a second braid right next to the first one.

I love this technic! "Thicken" the braids by loosening them. This step is optional and may only work well for less-layered hair.

Pin the braids together and hide them under another section of hair from the back.

Ta-da!!! The look is complete! You can wear them as they are or you can accentuate the look a little more by curling the ends of your hair and your fringe, but of course, that's optional as well.

A simple hairdo that you can create in just 5 minutes! It's a wearable style that will never go wrong with any outfit. I also love how it keeps most of my hair away from my face, allowing me to have full concentration on my date ;)

Speaking of Valentine's Day, here's a couple of outfits that I thought would be great for a first date!

................................................................................................

Look 1 - Classy
If you have no idea what to wear, a black dress always works! All you have to do is style it with accessories and change your hairdo. If you're planning to wear a body-fitting dress, try avoiding dresses that are above your knees. Remember, first impression matters the most, you don't want your date to think that you're trying too hard.

I like wearing body con dresses with lengths below my knees, they're a lot more comfortable anyway. I wanted to go for a more polish, classic look so I gathered my hair into a neat, low ponytail and finished it off with bold statement dangling earrings. This way, you're allowing your facial features to take centre stage, which I feel is most important for a date!

Look 2 - Flirty Pretty
When I was about 15, technology wasn't a huge thing yet. Facebook wasn't even popular then and the only way to gather information and tips on dating was from magazines. haha. One of the tips I'll always remember is to dress in pink for your first date. Nothing superstitious whatsoever, but when you're dressed in pink, your male partner will naturally treat you the way any girl would like to be treated. If you're not a fan of this feminine hue, don't worry! It works just by painting your nails pink or wearing a pink watch etc.

It'll be a bonus if you could wear a pink romper. A romper screams playfulness and it's comfortable, so you don't have to worry about it at all on your date!;)

Look 3 - Conservative Sweetheart
This last look is great if you're the shy, rather conservative type. A flare midi skirt's one of the best first date outfit any girl could ever wear. I'd pair it with a crop tank or an off shoulder top, but wearing it with a cute button down shirt would look cute and preppy too!

I can totally imagine myself wearing this to picnic dates especially. The flow of the skirt allows me to have upmost comfort while looking all put-together at the same time. Effortless beauty!

That's it for this post! I hope you've learnt a thing or two on what to wear for Valentine's Day this year. If it's your first time going on a date, always remember that regardless of what you wear, make sure to just be yourself! To be honest, guys don't usually care that much about what his girl wears, what matters most to him is her heart :)

But of course, it's always better to put in effort into your dressing and grooming too. Oh, and try to stay away from wearing heels unless you're a pro at it. The last thing you want are blisters and sore feet. hehehe.

................................................................................................

It's that time of the year again!
Look out for Sunsilk's annual pop-up salon, launching in early April for 4 weekends.
