I'm sorry.

I am here to admit my mistake, apologise and strive to do better next time.

Before I begin, I would like to thank everyone who has stood by me throughout this incident. I managed to pull through thanks to the love, support and words of encouragements from my family, friends and readers. I almost gave up after reading all of the demeaning hate comments on my social media platforms but I am so grateful for my loved ones and loyal readers, you guys reminded me to stay strong thus I kept going.

I didn't think anyone would still believe in me after what I've done, especially since I've let you all down. But because of that, I am committed to working even harder and I will strive to be the best that I can be in the hopes of earning your trust back again one day.

Apart from my dear ones, I would also like to thank those who left rational and non-biased personal opinions on my Instagram pictures or in the comment section of my previous blog post. You may not be a fan of me or of my works, but I am thankful that you took the time off to share your opinions.

I've learnt to separate comments that were meant to deliberately hurt me from yours. You taught me that not every comment is simply from a mindless hater, but rather they're constructive feedbacks on how I can improve myself as an influencer and as a person altogether. I've reflected on your words over the past few days, and now I am ready to give my statements.

..............................................................................................

In my previous post, I've already explained and clarified some of the accusations made against me. But I left one very important thing out of it and that was an apology for my wrong doings. I didn't apologise earlier not because I didn't want to admit a mistake but because at that point in time, I didn't think what I did was wrong.

I didn't know that the techniques used in the campaign were wrong. I thought they were fine since those deliverables mentioned in the brief were already acknowledged and agreed upon by Singtel, an established corporation that has years of expertise in working with advertising agencies. Thinking that they and Gushcloud already took precautions, I agreed to the deliverables and went onboard the campaign.

At that point of time, I didn't think what was asked out of me was wrong; I was already annoyed with my previous telco and have complained about them before. It's only now that I've read Xiaxue's blog post and your feedbacks that I've realised my actions were unethical and wrong since I was getting payment for my service.

However, it was never my intention to lie to my followers. The feeling I'd expressed in my tweets and blog post regarding M1 were genuine. Just like all the other influencers involved in the campaign, I wouldn't have agreed to do what I did if I genuinely didn't feel in such a way towards M1's service.

Tweets made in 2013 and 2012.
(Please pardon my rude choice of word in 2012; I was quite a defiant teen. hehehe)

All in all, I have realised my mistake and will do better next time by ensuring that all of my works are executed ethically. I am sorry for being ignorant and I hope that you take my explanation into consideration; it is not like me at all to do things just for the sake of money.

..............................................................................................

Next, I want to apologise for stating "Not An Ad" in one of my tweets. I've already explained why I included that in my previous post but I'll say it again here. I did it because I was sincere about switching telcos and signing up for the Youth Plan.

Still, I shouldn't have included that in my tweet. It was my fault for saying that thus causing such silly misunderstandings. I am sorry and will be more cautious with my choice of words from now on.

..............................................................................................

Lastly, I need to make a point that though I made a mistake by participating in the Singtel Youth Plan campaign, whatever I said about the LG G3 phone is true. Many of you have mentioned that I'd masked an ad for LG but that wasn't the case at all.

Here's a screenshot of what I said in my LG G3 blog post that proves I did mentioned that it was a campaign. (you can read the full review here)

The story I told before about how I gave my father this phone because he preferred it compared to the iPhone 6+ is true. Many have asked why I bought him an iPhone if I knew my father's a fan of LG. My reason is simple. The iPhone 6 and 6+ were such a hit then, almost everyone wanted one, they were expensive and hard to get. I bought one for my father because I simply wanted to put a smile on his face. I wanted him to feel good that he had something everyone else wanted. If you've been following me and reading my blog from the start, you'd know that I don't come from a well to do family. My father works extremely hard and he rarely buys anything for himself. I was just trying to make him happy. Is that so wrong?

But anyway, 3 months was a short time. I probably shouldn't had taken pictures of myself with the iPhone. Maybe that could have prevented people from assuming that I was masking an ad. It was still my fault and I am sorry. I will make sure that whatever I intend to do or say from now on is properly thought about first.

..............................................................................................

I know that I may still get unkind comments from haters even after I've apologised, but I've said my piece and have done everything I can. No matter how bad the situation has been, I am still thankful that it happened. I've always believed that everything happens for a reason and they're all tests from God. This incident has opened my eyes to see what is clear and what is not. From henceforth, I'm bringing my mistakes forward with me and I'll use them as guides so that I don't repeat them again in future.

To everyone who's going through a rough patch now, always remember that there's always light at the end of the tunnel, you just don't see it yet. (Yes, I love inspirational quotes! Now everyone knows that about me^^)

Thank you for hearing me out. I wish you all a fantastic week ahead!:)

Romans 8:28 says 'God promises to make something good out of the storms that bring devastation to your life" - Thank you for sharing this bible verse with me :) You know who you are.

  3. (Same R as last time)

This is much, much better as compared to the previous post. Thank you for your gracious apology. As a follower of this entire saga, I am glad you clarified your stand on blogging ethics.

The way ahead would be to win back reader trust, but I personally feel that if you stand by your words in this response, they will come back.

I hope everyone realises that the main point behind the whole scandal is about BLOGGING ETHICS. It is not about NN vs GC, nor is it XX vs GC bloggers. It is about what is considered ethically/legally right in the blogging industry. This entire saga has sparked off a much needed discussion about the specifics of such. I think we can safely say that bloggers from now on would be more careful on their social media platforms and be more considerate towards readers.

Finally: to the mindless haters, please get a life. Your personal attacks do you no credit whatsoever. And regardless of whether you support XX or those whom she accused - how are you trolls any different from the scum that is SMRT Feedback/ Anonymous? Provide constructive criticism that is targeted at the issue, not the person - Eunice did not even do anything wrong personally to you guys.

  4. (Yes, I love inspirational quotes! Now everyone knows that about me^^) - that's a funny one.

actually, i truly think there isnt a need for you to apologise.
being a 'public figure' doesnt mean you are obligated to receive negative comments from the outside world.
& doesnt mean you have to do things that please the rest.

just continue being yourself. you live your own life. dont be affected by the negative statements.

    jiayou gal!

  9. And I think you can consider leaving Gushcloud man. Although your darling works there, you have to come to terms with the fact that the company is run by 2 brats. You were pulled into this shit storm because of them. You are a star. Leave them and take control of your own brand/identity/business. Peace out.

  10. Hi Eunice, I may not be your fan reader nor XX's but I'm really glad that you felt apologetic and apologized to your fans. XX is right to expose people or company in which had unethical work ethic and alert the consumers and readers because we deserve to know but I always believe that everyone makes mistake and always deserve a second chance and she shouldn't just give everyone the death sentence neither she has the call. I'm pretty sure she had made mistakes in the past or even now.

As for your company, Gushcloud, I really doubt they are a good company. Yes, they may in some ways which had brought you guys together to have fun, joy and laughter, offering you deals, campaign etc, but it is wrong for them, by not protecting you guys because before they even agreed and took up the campaign with Singtel, I'm pretty sure they had read the full context of it but still decided to go with this proposal instead of voicing out the wrongdoing. To begin with, a good company must have a good leader and good boss in order to have good employees, don't you agree with me? I gave them the benefit of doubt during the 1st expose but when the 2nd expose came to light, including the recording, I can say that I'm really disappointed and upset with how they handle things.

You're a beautiful and filial girl. It's is okay to fall but as long as you stand up with your feet again, it will be alright and the days will get even better. :)

    Joy

  12. Our sources say that the telcos that you have smeared are getting ready their lawyers to sue yourself, Xavier Ong and several other influencers of Gushcloud, together with its CEO.

Could you kindly comment on the potential litigation, as well as your thoughts on the ramifications of this unethical behavior on the blogging industry as a whole.

  16. Hello there Eunice.

Hiasshh *sigh* at the commotions online.

I admire the fact that you are strong and look on to the positive side of things, despite all the happenings. Moreover, the bravery to apologize even when you know you are not entirely in the wrong. It takes that kind of effort to write out and explain.

Everyone makes mistakes, and yes I believe you will see the light again once you're out of the tunnel. Hehehehe a fellow quote lover here as well!

  17. Great and sincere apology. All the best to the new Eunice Annabel :)

Today newspaper has just published breaking news in this saga over an hour ago and your apology is mentioned. It shows a lot of maturity and I think it will help you slowly earn back your readers trust.

By the way, did you write this after seeing Budget Babe's advice on http://worklivesingapore.blogspot.com?

If yes then just thought maybe you might want to thank her. Because now you stand a good chance to recover from the crisis after writing and apologizing just as she recommended :)

    Jiayou Eunice!

  18. first time here, just curious what you have to say about the recent saga.

anyway, as a Christian, I feel offended that the quote at the end of your post is... kinda far fetched from the Bible. you may want to google that verse before posting it because nowhere in Romans 8:28 said something like what you did in your post.

please be careful and double-check when quoting, thanks.

  19. Does turning 21 meant anything to you? Does the term "legal age" meant anything as well? Your negligence is far below standard of what is expected of you, especially when you are a commercial advertiser. I'm just telling you. Your lawsuit is going to be hard to fight. All the best.

  24. I dun know u before this episode but all I can say is that if u are really sincere in apologising, just do so and dullatop. No need to keep going on and on and still trying to explain this and that. It SERIOUSLY DOESNT WORK and all the more make people feel that you are such a hypocritical person. Just apologise and full stop. I think people will respect u even more if u did that. End of the day, as long as you are being paid to do something, all these things that u say u would not do it if u did not believe in it seriously doesn't work at all. Pls reflect upon your own actions and I hope u will grow up to be a better person I hope.

  26. Hi Eunice! :)

I just want to say that I really admire your courage and how you handled this whole saga. I'm really inspired at how you so bravely faced all the negativity that was coming at you and still able to hold you head up and apologise.
You've made me see you in a new light! :) I've always liked you cause I thought you were really pretty and how you could carry off so many nice blogshop clothings! But now, I see something else. I see the inner beauty that you have, how you genuinely loved and cared for your father, how you were strong through this tough time and how you were honest to yourself and to others! :')

You're beautiful inside and out Eunice! May you continue to walk on this path with courage and knowing that people who genuinely care and love you will always support you!

God bless and have a lovely day! <3

    1. I honestly feel that she is in constant self-denial. Her apologies aren't complete as she still feels the need to defend her self. I, for one, do not see the need in her apologizing just because she did her job. Pointing out the weaknesses of your rivals in order to strengthen yourself is a weapon every competitor uses, what is so "unethical" in it? Eunice is just fortunate she gets an opportunity to earn whilst doing so, WHAT IS SO WRONG? After all, if rival companies could be brought down so easily, they aren't that strong themselves? proves their foundation is weak? Xiaxue is speaking frankly bullshit about ethics and morals. Her sudden outburst at Eunice just because of one single harmless instagram post, is what calls for laughter. Mountain out of a molehill no? She claims she's doing all these out of her pursuit for righteousness and uphold moral integrity? that crap? She's basically doing what a child would do to attract attention. CREATE DRAMA.

  27. You have claimed to apologise, but ask yourself this: If Gushcloud hadn't contracted with Singtel to promote the Youth Plan, would you still have posted such disparaging comments about Singtel's competitors? Instead of choosing to disclose the relationship between Singtel and yourself, you went to tweet "Not an Ad" in an attempt to mask the marketing campaign.

Wendy is correct. You stood to be paid and there was a conflict of interest. You should have disclosed the relationship. You could have marketed the benefits of the Youth Plan without mentioning the competition, but you didn't. And now you're trying to cover it up by claiming that you were dissatisfied with your telco in the first place.

And when you try to defend your actions like this, its ugly.

    ReplyDelete

    1. she has proven that she WAS indeed dissatisfied, have you any evidence or proof that what she said ain't true. If not, she is not covering up, she is just using her past experience, her honest opinion to her favor, which is in this case, a marketing weapon. If she has succeeded, i would give her a pat on her back and say "good job"

Her actions doesn't require defense. You turn out to be the ugly one. (for some people it is also literal)

    2. Cyxthia, you've missed the point. I didn't say that she was lying about herself being dissatisfied with M1. However she only made such a claim after the Gushcloud expose by Wendy. Yes, the timing of this is important. On any other day, complaining about the services of one's Telco would be a normal thing. However the timing of her posts on M1 after Singtel approached Gushcloud was too coincidental for us to believe that what she did was not incentivized by a payout.

Now imagine you're an employee of M1 and you're proud to work at that company. People out there are then being paid to diss about your services. How fair is that to you? If you can still tell me that all of this isn't ugly, then I question your ethics.

  29. Hey. I just wanted to tell you that your attempt at defending yourself is rather feeble. I am not saying that it is untruthful, but your apology has not come off as meaningful.
Firstly, you apologized and claimed that you didn't know that the techniques were wrong. As a matter of fact, Xiaxue thought it was unethical based on HER morals and values. Did your moral and values tell you it was wrong to bring down rival companies (of which you thought were deserving of the "complains"?) Obviously, it didn't OR perhaps it did but you went with it anyway. So what does your current apology mean? it means your moral values and principles have been altered by XiaXue's blogpost or does it actually mean you're sincerely apologetic about burying your conscience?

Secondly, your NOT AN AD is highly controversial. i stand by you on this because you might have meant the comments were genuine even if you are participating in a campaign. The fact that you made an effort to point out specially on that comment that it wasn't an ad, already proves that you admit some of the others are, just that that particular one isn't. Which was a fair point.

Lastly, i would like to tell you that we should think carefully before apologizing. Because by doing so, you're admitting to doing wrong. In the first place, if you aren't lying about the companies as you so still insist, your opinions on tweeter are valid. ANY OPINIONS ON TWEETER IS DEBATABLE no? Ans receiving money for it is just a bonus, WHY NOT? It is not against MY morals, so i don't see why you're feeling so bad about it.

what i'm trying to tell you now is, stand by what you originally believed, there was a reason why you believed it. Unless you're really wrong, don't stand down. Especially when you're a person that inspired me into a person i am today, i think you shouldn't bring yourself down, and bring many others who've believed in you down as well.

Apologies have to be accounted for as well.

  30. It may not be wrong for a company to slander a competitor as a business tactic, but for a blogger to mask an advertisement as an honest opinion is, without a doubt, morally wrong and unethical.

A blogger's opinions and reviews on a product/service are viewed by the public as a consumer's opinion, and are deemed to be unbiased and therefore, trustworthy because there is no conflict of interest in the matter. Once the blogger accepts a fee or some form of compensation for the post, it becomes a paid advertisement, not much different from a television or magazine ad. Additionally, the blogger in question is a public figure, spokesperson, and model with legions of young and older fans alike. Her comments and posts are expected to be read, followed and dissected. Masking an ad as an honest opinion is deceptive to the public, damaging to the reputation as a public figure and an unethical marketing practice as a businessperson.

If you cannot even comprehend this much, I suggest you enrol in a university ethics course or before you go about preaching what YOU think is right and wrong. There are countless sources of information on the subject and there is no excuse for you to be so uninformed.

  31. I would love to share my experience to every mother and to those who wished to be a mother someday. I have been in marriage for 13 yrs with no child of my own and my husband loved me so much that he never do things without me. We do almost everything together and that made my marriage so romantic and interesting for me but i have always worried about having my own kids even if it's just one. My husband never seem to be worried or talked about it and it bothered me so much. I am really short of words of what happened later but i will try to put it in a short note because it's my greatest joy on earth. Few years back my husband fell into the hand of a gold digger who tried to take him away from me. This lady manipulated my husband and he took her side and left home to stay with her for almost a year i was alone crying day by day waiting for him to call me and come back home until it got so bad that I couldn't bear it anymore and i was about giving up on him because of these online Fake spell casters and Scams who rip off my money. This is certainly a shocking and genuine living Testimony of mine and it does goes on right now in my life. I came across some suggestions and i was convinced to work with this man after i expressed what i have been passing through to DR MUNA. He told me what i needed to know and requested for an ancient items he needed to work for me I cant get those items myself and i sent him some money for him to help me and hoping this is another Scam. But when DR MUNA called me and told me he is done with my work. My husband came back home with a surprised apology gift. I had him back and right till this moment we have loved each other again more and more and i am 6 months pregnant and i will be having my third child soon. This is an extraordinary blessing and to all soon to be a mother I am telling you nothing but my true life story and here his email ID marvelspelltemple@gmail.com Whatsapp contact +2348071660388
