Sunsilk - How to Take Your Best Selfie #SunsilkCrazySnaps

Sure, everyone is capable of taking a good photo of themselves. With technology, especially our smartphones, being such a huge part of our lives now, almost everyone take selfies, including my parents. There are many ways to achieve your best selfie, and it all comes down to having the basic essential tools.

You start off by ensuring that you have the following items ready - a good camera, great lighting, the right angle and your best face and hair forward. You know the saying “Your hair is your crowning glory”? Well, that’s certainly true. A little change to your hair does a huge difference to your entire appearance. And that is why hair care is extremely important to me. Before I head out everyday, I ensure that my hair is in place with the help of styling tools and my favourite, must have Sunsilk leave on cream. It keeps my hair looking and feeling smooth and manageable so I don’t have to worry about it throughout the day. To top it all off, the cream smells great!

Besides all that, there is something else I'd like to touch on and let you know. Having been in the entertainment industry for the last couple of years has taught me that the camera never lies. What I mean to say is that no matter how perfect my make up may seem some day, or no matter how pretty my outfit is, my selfie wouldn't matter if I truly don't feel good about myself on the inside. You'll be able to tell the true emotion of someone from his or her photo or video.

It is very easy for me to feel down by reading just a couple of mean comments. I deal with such issues almost everyday of my life, as much as being in front of the camera. Whenever you see a bubbly and chirpy Eunice Annabel on screen, it doesn't mean I was feeling happy throughout the shoot. To be honest, I may be a completely different person behind the scenes. After all, I am still human, and I do bare my own insecurities and problems.

Just a while ago, a friend of mine casually said something pretty offensive to me. She thought it was funny but she had no idea how hurtful her comment was, because it was revolving around my biggest insecurity. It took me quite a while to get over it and she could sense some sort of tension between us, so she apologised but I just couldn't bring myself to forget what she said. Minutes later, I thought to myself, why allow such a small comment and my insecurity ruin my friendship, which is far much more precious than almost anything else?

And that's when I realised that we, as humans, tend to open the door for negativity too readily, which in turn leaves little room for more important things like confidence, love and friendship. I think girls of today worry too much about beauty and how they perceive themselves. Admit it! You have at least once in your lifetime compared yourself to the model on the cover of a magazine right? You know that's how insecurities kick in. So why do we still do it?

It's easy for me to sit here, type this post out and tell you girls to feel good about yourself and be confident. But we all know that action speaks louder than words. Hence recently, I've lived my life to the fullest by stripping away any negativity and by having fun. Yes, some of my choices may not be the healthiest but hey, at least I'm happy and confident now, more than ever :) And I hope that inspires you to go out there and just have fun too. Like I've always said, don't think, and just do!

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it really doesn't matter if you're using the best camera to take your selfie, or if you're wearing a new lipstick shade or if you're donning the most expensive dress you've ever owned. Achieving the best selfie happens when the camera captures the glow from within, and this glow could be anything from a sparkle from one's eye or a bright genuine grin.

Basically, you'd have attained the best selfie when you're not critical over how you look once the photo is taken. When you can smile at a makeup-less picture of yourself. When you’re comfortable with looking at a picture of yourself in PJs. When it doesn't matter that your new zit or eye bags are showing in the selfie. When you only need to take a selfie once and not 30 over times.

That's self-acceptance and being proud of who you are, and to me, that's the how you get your best selfie :)

Sunsilk: Hair Tutorial for Valentine's Day!

Hi girls! I hope you had fun taking part in the #SunsilkHairHunt contest. Once again, congratulations to @its_xinhui and all the other winners! Please share photos of yourself at your staycation if you can alright? There are different themed rooms at the New Majestic Hotel and I would love to see which one you've picked ;)

Apart from that, I also wanna thank EVERYONE who took time off their schedules to take part in the contest as well. I personally felt it was quite a challenge but it didn't stop you guys from participating and that meant a lot to me and the Sunsilk team. If you didn't win, don't worry! There'll be plenty more opportunities in future.

A new year has begun and I can't wait to see what Sunsilk has in store for us all. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank ALL of you readers for your constant support. There is no way I could ever achieve anything without you guys ;)

2014 ended with a bang, lots of parties and dressing up to do, the next big things to look forward to are Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. With these special occasions just around the corner, it's time to decide on how to dress and of course, how to wear your hair ;)

There are so many different looks and styles you could go for and I personally (honestly) like to leave my hair down, probably curl it a little and that's it. But I thought of trying some new styles out.

Here's a hairdo I came up with that would look perfect for Valentine's Day! It's super simple and takes only about 5 minutes to complete.

The Sunsilk Instant Smoothening Cream will allow you to have a better sense of control over your hair. It has the ability to leave hair feeling a lot more manageable, and without a doubt, as its name suggests, smoother! ;) Fly-aways are a big no-no for this rather polish and adorable style. If you've tried it before, you'll know how good it smells too.

Grab a section of hair, at least an inch away from you face and braid it. I'd recommend leaving your fringe behind, you'll need to curl it later for a glamorous finish. Braiding is easy! Practice makes perfect.

Once that's done, create a second braid right next to the first one.

I love this technic! "Thicken" the braids by loosening them. This step is optional and may only work well for less-layered hair.

Pin the braids together and hide them under another section of hair from the back.

Ta-da!!! The look is complete! You can wear them as they are or you can accentuate the look a little more by curling the ends of your hair and your fringe, but of course, that's optional as well.

A simple hairdo that you can create in just 5 minutes! It's a wearable style that will never go wrong with any outfit. I also love how it keeps most of my hair away from my face, allowing me to have full concentration on my date ;)

Speaking of Valentine's Day, here's a couple of outfits that I thought would be great for a first date!

................................................................................................

Look 1 - Classy
If you have no idea what to wear, a black dress always works! All you have to do is style it with accessories and change your hairdo. If you're planning to wear a body-fitting dress, try avoiding dresses that are above your knees. Remember, first impression matters the most, you don't want your date to think that you're trying too hard.

I like wearing body con dresses with lengths below my knees, they're a lot more comfortable anyway. I wanted to go for a more polish, classic look so I gathered my hair into a neat, low ponytail and finished it off with bold statement dangling earrings. This way, you're allowing your facial features to take centre stage, which I feel is most important for a date!

Look 2 - Flirty Pretty
When I was about 15, technology wasn't a huge thing yet. Facebook wasn't even popular then and the only way to gather information and tips on dating was from magazines. haha. One of the tips I'll always remember is to dress in pink for your first date. Nothing superstitious whatsoever, but when you're dressed in pink, your male partner will naturally treat you the way any girl would like to be treated. If you're not a fan of this feminine hue, don't worry! It works just by painting your nails pink or wearing a pink watch etc.

It'll be a bonus if you could wear a pink romper. A romper screams playfulness and it's comfortable, so you don't have to worry about it at all on your date!;)

Look 3 - Conservative Sweetheart
This last look is great if you're the shy, rather conservative type. A flare midi skirt's one of the best first date outfit any girl could ever wear. I'd pair it with a crop tank or an off shoulder top, but wearing it with a cute button down shirt would look cute and preppy too!

I can totally imagine myself wearing this to picnic dates especially. The flow of the skirt allows me to have upmost comfort while looking all put-together at the same time. Effortless beauty!

That's it for this post! I hope you've learnt a thing or two on what to wear for Valentine's Day this year. If it's your first time going on a date, always remember that regardless of what you wear, make sure to just be yourself! To be honest, guys don't usually care that much about what his girl wears, what matters most to him is her heart :)

But of course, it's always better to put in effort into your dressing and grooming too. Oh, and try to stay away from wearing heels unless you're a pro at it. The last thing you want are blisters and sore feet. hehehe.

................................................................................................

It's that time of the year again!
Look out for Sunsilk's annual pop-up salon, launching in early April for 4 weekends.
