"A smell can bring on a flood of memories,
influence people's moods and even affect their work performance."
Out of our five senses, the sense of smell is the strongest. When
you smell something familiar, something you once had a strong connection with,
don't you think that you'll automatically feel transported back in time to when
you first smelled it. This is because the nerve that affects our sense of smell
is found in the brain near a system that controls our memories. When we first
smell something, our brain forges a link it to a person, or an event or a thing
or a moment. So when we encounter the smell again, the link is already there.
This is also why not everyone likes the same smell. hahaha.
Perfumes and fragrances have a huge ability to do that sort of
thing. I'm sure many of you still remember how your first love smelled like
huh? You either hate it or love it. Personally, I HATE perfumes that smell too
sweet. Whenever I smell one, it takes me back in time to when I was sitting
behind a family in church. The mother had a really strong sweet-smelling
perfume on and I couldn't concentrate throughout the service because it was
giving me a huge headache. Bear in mind that this happened almost 6 years ago.
But the memory of that whole situation is still vivid.
This is why I think that it is important for everyone to adopt a
scent that is uniquely yours. There's a saying "You'll never
get a second chance to make a first impression" so make sure
that you're wearing something that you'll want to be associated with 5 years
down the road even if you've changed your perfume along the way.

There are tons of perfumes in the market and they all have an
ability to exude different sort of impressions on the person wearing them. Some
of us prefer sweet smelling ones to go on a date with, while others would
rather opt for something a little more romantic or even sensual.
For me, I would love to be associated with a scent that exudes
confidence, independence, and sophistication yet smelling sexy all at the same
time. Lately, I was given an opportunity to try a new fragrance from DKNY and I
have nothing but tons of compliments for it.
Inspired by New York; a city that's alive with personalities and
possibilities, comes a new fragrance by DKNY named MYNY (My New York).
I've been to New York twice and I love it there. It's really a city that's
bursting with passion and creativity; it's somewhere I want to live for the
rest of my life if I could. There is NOTHING dull or boring in
New York, and its traits are all well reflected in a bottle of the DKNY MYNY
perfume. Its scent is bold, playful and sophisticated- just the way I like it-
and if you're a fan of fruity or floral scented perfumes with a hint of spice
and musk; you're going to love it!
Singer, songwriter and actress Rita Ora who is an incredibly
talented and original artist fronts the campaign. She's the epitome of
the modern individual that's free-spirited, eccentric, unique and confident.
DKNY couldn't have made a better choice with their new face.

Watching it makes me miss NYC so much. It's just a city that's
full of life.

Sure, we can get all these fancy perfumes for ourselves but if
they don't last throughout the day, it defeats the whole purpose huh? Here's
how you can make your perfume last longer. You need to know that perfumes
evaporate faster from dry skin, so the best way to make it last longer is to
use a heavy body lotion or cream. Preferably, one that complements the
fragrance. This is why most perfumes these days come in a package with matching
shower gels and body lotions. The DKNY MYNY is no exception.
The best way to use them is during and after a shower before
applying your perfume. Pepping your skin and layering the fragrance ensures the
perfume lasts longer

I personally love the body lotion. It's feel really light, not sticky or greasy at all though it's very concentrated. So concentrated that it works amazing on it's own too! But of course, none of these are completed without the star of the package. The Eau De Parfum.

Before I go into the nitty gritty details of the perfume's
scent, have you notice the adorable packaging? First look and it's just a
regular heart shaped bottle , but if you look at it vertically and you'll
notice that its silver metallic cap is shaped like the skyline of NYC. I
thought that this was really quite something. The bottle isn't just any regular
perfume bottle to me anymore; it has become some sort of memento, a souvenir of how
I'll always remember New York. That concrete jungle with crazy skylines all
packed so closely to one another. I'm already imagining the possibilities I
could use the bottle for after it's contents run out! hehehe
As mentioned earlier, you'll love this DKNY MYNY fragrance if
you're a fan of perfumes with fruity- floral notes, and hints of spice and
musk. Like every perfume, there are three notes: the top, middle, and base.
Basically, the top note strikes the nose immediately and wears away after a few
short minutes. It marks your first impression and it's usually the scent that
either captivates your senses or repels it.
The top note for this perfume contains Raspberries, Galbanum
with accents of Pink Pepper. I think it's interesting how the Pink Pepper tones
down the sweetness of the Raspberry scent without taking away the freshness of
the overall initial fruity and playful fragrance.
The middle note develops after a few minutes when the top notes
evaporate. It's also known as the "heart note" because they last
longer than the top notes and have a strong influence on the base notes to
come. The middle note for the DKNY MYNY perfume contains Egyptian Jasmine
wrapped with Freesia and roots of Orris. I've never come across such flowers and
ingredients before but from my experience with this perfume, I've developed a
liking for them. They smell feminine, warm and a little mysterious. Pretty
exotic.
The base notes are the final scent that emanates when
the top and middle notes evaporate. What you'd usually smell on yourself
halfway through the day are the base notes. These notes are usually rich and
would linger on the skin for hours before dying down completely. The base notes
for this perfume includes Patchouli, Vanilla and Musk. Yum yum. Put these
scents together and you'll smell that irresistible sophisticated
fragrant you'll usually smell on strong independent corporate women.
I think that the DKNY MYNY perfume has a pretty exotic fragrance
that can be worn any time, but works especially well for evening. I love how it
starts out smelling fresh and energetic, and slowly dies down with a warm,
sensual scent. It's almost as though it was designed specially with that
intention in mind - to keep you company through your day, changing its scent as
your day's activities changes. Truly a perfume catered and suited for one with
a lifestyle that filled with unexpected twists and turns. Just like New York :)
The fragrance is available island wide now at leading department
stores (Metro Paragon, Robinsons JEM, Robinsons Orchard, Robinsons Raffles
City, Takashimaya, Tangs Orchard & Tangs VivoCity) and selected perfumeries
(SaSa Cosmetics & others).
